I’ve always wanted to try to make healthy dog biscuits at home. Zack’s favorite were the peanut butter ones. Here’s one from VPI Pet Insurance that sounds both easy to make and healthy.
Happy, healthy doggie muffins with soy
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 cup milk
1/4 cup corn oil
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup soy flour (soy flour is high in fiber and has 40% protein)
1/2 cup bran flakes
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line 12 muffin tins with paper forms.
- In a mixing bowl, combine egg, milk, and oil. Stir in baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Combine whole wheat flour, soy flour, and bran flakes. Then add gradually to egg mixture, beating until batter is well mixed. Fold in raisins if your dog likes them.
- Spoon batter into lined muffin tins. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Makes 12 healthy snack muffins for your dog. And here’s a special treat for the pet owner from the bottom of this recipe:
